I start moving from one side to the other and am surprised to find the house is actually deeper than I remember. I move from one side of the house to the other going through rooms I don't remember...but surely they must have been there the whole time!
I am a bit startled to step out of a flimsy sliding glass door and find myself out on a deck that is overlooking a rural backyard. There are woods right up to the edge of a medium sized backyard. The yard has had some care but it is still partially wild itself.
I wonder why I do not come out to this back deck more.
It is twilight with most of the sun gone. It is very quickly going to be dark.
I casually look over to my left and see a neighbor's house and onto their deck and see THREE LIONS who are pawing at the door and testing their strength to try to get in. One is a full grown lioness and the other two are teenage boys...their manes are just starting to come in.
I feel a cold rush of fear as the lioness looks up and sees me. We lock eyes.
A quick look to my right and I see 3 doors to my back deck are gaping wide open.
I leap back into my house and try to secure the door and get to the other one. As I close the second door they are upon it and it takes all my strength to hold it closed. I am horrified to discover that not only does the door not have a lock, the latch itself is broken.
That means the third door is OPEN and I can not leave THIS one. I hope the lions will not notice the third door.
I do not know if the lions are even coming over until the door nearly bursts open with lions. It takes all my strength to beat them back and hold my weight against the door.
The door is incredibly flimsy and has a large gap underneath. I see giant paws flicking in and out underneath the gap.
A quick look around and I see some garden tools. I grab a hand tool with 3 curving spikes used to break up the earth and start hitting at the seeking paws. I hear some yoweling as I get in some good shots. It is hard to hold my body against the door AND hit at paws.
It occurs to me cats do not like dogs and I start barking. I do not know if it is actually helping or not but I figure it's better than generic yelling. Three things to do at once is quickly tiring me out.
I know the third door is STILL open.
