"Some doings" or "Book of MorManga"

I've had a ton on my plate this last month which has actually made planning things a lot easier. I was telling my mom the other day that I get so much more done all around when I've got a *lot* to do versus days where I don't really have much on the schedule. You know the old addage...if you want something done, ask a busy person. It's nice waking up in the morning knowing exactly what I need to have accomplished by the end of the day.

I've been doing a ton of animation...so far I've finished about two minutes of some pretty fun full fledged animation. I have another sequence to do...I'm hoping I'll be able to get it done in the next week and a half. I've also got a bunch of stuff requested for the latest issue of Sunstone. This next issue they wanted a Book of Mormon story done manga style. I haven't ever really done manga but I figure I can study a few drawings, read up on a few tutorials and have at it. I spent all day on the first page...it took longer than I anticipated but I'm really pleased with how it came out.

To see the rest you'll have to buy the issue. :)

Thanks! It was fun to do...I mean, one page took me all day but it's a good looking page methinks. :)

Wow. That's usually what I say if I struggle to say anything nice! ;)

Actually, other than the face in the "surprise" panel (something about the eyes looks...amateurish. Manga eyes are tough for someone who doesn't do them normally, but something about them screams "me when I was 10" to me), I really like it.

The "iiiiinteresting" comes both from wanting to read more, being a little startled by the Aztec references, and from the eyes. ;-)

Oh totally busted. I didn't like his eyes either...and have since reworked them. Thanks for keeping me honest.

And hey...so you know how to fix up old motorcycles?

Heee, I had a feeling you were going to end up reworking them - from what I could see of his eyes in the final panel, you got the hang of the danged puppyeyes (I HATE manga eyes, can I just tell you that?). It just completely broke the flow of the gorgeous art and inking to get hit with those eyes in that second panel!

I kinda-sorta know how to fix up old motorbikes. Depends on what's wrong with 'em!

Very cool.
So, I've been wondering for a while, what is Manga?

Japanese style comics. There are tons of variations...what anime (Pokemon etc) is to western animation, manga is to US comics.
