Apparently this is National No Name Calling Week.

"No Name-Calling Week is an annual week of educational activities aimed at ending name-calling of all kinds and providing schools with the tools and inspiration to launch an on-going dialogue about ways to eliminate bullying in their communities."

I don't know about you, but knowing the jerks who made my life miserable when I was a kid...that week they'd be even WORSE.

No kidding!
"Don't call people names, be nice!" was the worst thing a person could say to my tormentors. They'd go at it with new vigor to ensure they would never be anything close to nice.
Now, if they'd actually done something to punish the rotten kids besides TALK at them, something might have happened.

"They only tease you because they like you..."
"Just ignore them and it will stop."

Ah, lies adults tell themselves and the kids so they don't have to get involved.

Why do adults ask kids what they want to be when they grow up?

Because they're looking for ideas.

No. They tease me because they enjoy trying to make me cry and they like feeling powerful.

You do realize that by calling the 'jerks' who made your life miserable 'jerks' you've just defeated the purpose of no name calling week.

On a second note, if we prevent people from name calling many a guy may just be forced to become mute altogether. (stop cheering that) I can barely open my mouth w/o calling someone something whether they're in the room or not. But for me it's a sign of love. Me taking the time out of my busy day to say something utterly vile and demeaning to a person is just the pleasantries before the 'so what are you doing?' or 'wanna go get some lunch?" For a lot of people that's simply how they talk.
It's up to you to take it personally or not.

They say hate is the new love. I was almost loved to death.

Oh it's totally true. In my family we have a saying, "if we don't make fun of you, we don't like you."

It's not name calling if it's true.

That's my excuse too! :P

Actually, when I say "jerk" it's just me mispronouncing the jerk's name. It's completely uncontrollable, like those people who can't say the phrase "no ifs, ands, or buts" even when they're reading it aloud.

Perhaps they should work at removing the persons name if they wanted to be really mean. Or say their name in a horrible way.
