"Chiiiiicago!" or "Whoosh!"

I am spending the extended weekend in Chicago visiting my good friend BJ. He was my best friend all through art school and we have stayed good friends since. I feel sheepish when I realize it has been 2.5 years since I have seen him but it's like no time at all has passed. His place is artistic and domestic and reeks of good taste like I knew it would and his two black cats are beautiful and stare at me with green gold eyes.

Getting here was a bit of an adventure...I had to race to the airport (my ride fell through) and in the rush of getting through screening accidentally left my keys and my phone behind. Yeaaaah. Fortunately after leaving a message at my folks my dad called me back from my phone. The airport had called them and he had gone and picked it up. Sadly though, my keys are still at the airport. BOO HISS.

______

Chicago so far is pretty neat. I slept in BJ's room with the window open and was lulled by the sound of the wind moving through the building that surround his apartment.

Today we are watching Superman Returns and I think we may try to catch a play tonight.

Yay, Chicago!!! It's my favorite U.S. city by far. I've had so many good times there (going to see both incarnations of Xena Live! being just two of them :).

I don't know which part of town your friend lives in, but if you have a chance to get down to Millenium Park, don't miss it. Another really cool thing is the Architecture Tour. I've never taken an official one of those myself, but I've heard nothing but good things. (My Architecture Tour consisted of one of my good Chicagoan friends pointing out the best stuff as she drove me around town at midnight in her wife's Miata. :)

Having just returned from Chicago, I have to say, it's a pretty city. It was quite an experience spending a few days there.

Their transit system is top-notch too! I took the 'el' everyday I was there and it was sooo convenient.

One thing that concerned me was seeing a cop on duty IN the McDonalds and hearing on the news that a girl was shot dead in a KFC because of a robbery -- even though she complied with the robber. Sad.

Chicago!!!! Love the place! The Shedd Aquarium fills me with glee and delight, as does the view from the top of the Hancock Building (which has a view far superior to the view from the Sears Tower, even though it isn't as tall).
