1. Free dinner that I didn't have to clean up.
2. Had a good long chat with one of my childhood buddies. It's always good to see him.
Went to the fabric store with my mom for some sketchbook materials.
Slept on my folks couch.
I have been spending more and more weekends on my parents couch not because it is exceedingly comfortable (which it is,) but because my roommates are in the habit of bringing people around at wee hours and making a lot of noise over my bed during said wee hours. It's really starting to wear on me.
Fr'instance... Saturday night the stillness was disturbed at THREE AM with crashing sounds and boys voices and loud laughter and conversation and shrieking giggling girls and I wanted to murder them all.
I HATE going upstairs the next day and seeing unfamiliar people asleep on my futon under MY blankets. NICE.
Saturday: Stopped at the fabric store again (the fake leather stuff was on sale for 50% off) and then headed back home where I tidied up the place (did all my roommates dishes, ARGH) and waited for 1:00 to roll around for my friends to arrive for our sketchbook making party.
It was a lot of fun and there were some really interesting books made.
Chris walked each of us through copic binding and while mine was certainly far from perfect I am delighted with it and think most of my sketchbooks from here on out will be sewn together like that. I'm excited to make some more and play with it.
Cassanda used linoleum as her covers and split my hemp thread and got this really funky looking book when she was done. The cord had shredded a bit making it all fuzzy looking. It was really neat when it was done which was good since she went through like 3 needles to do it!
Two hours late parodypictures showed up so I quickly ran him through how to do covers. He was a bit of a speed demon finishing up his entire book shortly after the rest of us...fairly impressive since he was behind 2 hours. His book came out looking really neat. I fully expect him to post stuff from it.
I ran a few errands and stopped at my friend Donna's house where she fed me dinner and we went back to my place where I showed her how to stitch up sketchbooks with the process I used last year. I put together 2 and she put together one ... which I let her keep. Merry Christmas.
My sketchbooks are looking better and better...there's been a lot of trial and error and I feel like I'm starting to really get the hang on things. I need to watch my outer covers and make sure they are folded nicely on the interior...it's the little things that make them look a little more professional, like putting in the bachelor buttons before you put the interior cover sheet on.
Sunday I made it to the early choir practice which was fun though I was sad we were taking out a number. It was one of my favorites. Ah well, it will still be quite a show.
Sunday evening I tidied my room and collected some things which are to go out to various people. Gave me much food for thought.
