Kiss today goodbye...

Woke up bien temprano this morning, packed up my stuff and my kitty and now I'm back in Salt Lake. Boy is it UGLY outside! The inversion has taken on this mucky brown hue (always a crowd pleaser) and my newly washed Friday is a mess again. Le sigh.

It will be interesting to go to work again today. I got a few messages on my phone that my kids cleaned up on silver stars the last team awards, plus our whole department won for Best Department Spirit for the quarter (again with the OOOOOooooOOOOO) AND we beat our `super goal' of percaps by 7 cents. This is a Big Deal. Go us. (I opted not to go, choosing instead to go up to Logan. Hopefully I'm not considered a traiter.)

I confess I am feeling more and more detached from work. All I want to do is work on my portfolio and I am starting to resent any time taken away from it. Tonight, tonight I finish my El Perro boards and start making my leica reel with it. "Ayyy...such a waste of superhero TALENT!" We'll see how it goes.

I'd really like to board out the poem about the Young Crow and the Old Crow that my neighbor knows. It would look terrific in something more stylized..ala Samurai Jack.

    the heater blowing...

Just got off the phone with my friend BJ. We are going to try to get a trip coordinated so we can meet up in San Francisco. I would drive up, he would fly from Chicago. Hopefully we can pull this off to happen within the next 2 to 3 weeks. I'm excited but nervous at the same time. I have a LOT of work left to do on my portfolio. Boards to finish, animation to compile, a few layout and visual language assignments to do...and then I have to make it all pretty and presentable. It's a lot of work.

In my dream world where the sun in always shining and the sky is always blue, I would love to be able to drop my portfolio off and have them say, "Why, this is wonderful! Can you interview right now?" To which I would say, "Absolutely," and then promptly accept their offer and spend the rest of the trip looking for a place to live. And then the sky beings to rain doughuts...

I am being realistic however. Worst case scenario, they take the portfolio with a smile and then a few weeks later I get a really cute postcard saying to try again. Sigh. Still though, I get to see some of my bestus friends and I get out of Utah for a little bit. Go me!

Again with the finishing of El Perro tonight.

Friday Five

Must be Friday...

1. What does it say in the signature line of your emails?
Don't have one.

2. Did you have a senior quote in your high school yearbook? What was it? If you haven't graduated yet, what would you like your quote to be?
Senior quotes? This is the first I've heard of it. Actually one of my fav quotes that made it into the year book was concerning the art program. "It's hard when you want to draw a superhero and the assignment is a water color of a barn!"

3. If you had vanity plates on your car, what would they read? If you already have them, what do they say?
I don't have them...but I would have liked to have put "Friday" on my Geo Tracker.

4. Have you received any gifts with messages engraved upon them? What did the inscription say?
Engraved? Ummm...my scriptures were a gift with my name engraved on the front. That was nice.

5. What would you like your epitaph to be?
"I'd rather be living."
