Writer's Block: No Laughing Matter

What do you think is too serious to joke about?

Actually can't really think of a thing. It's all context baby.

It totally depends on the context, but I think animal abuse would be up there.
The guy who does our animal cremations once asked "How do you make a cat go 'Woof'?" Answer: "Gasoline and a match. WOOF!" If it had been anybody else, that joke wouldn't have flown, but because of the source, I couldn't help but laugh. Its what he does all day, so of course he's got a couple of jokes. However, I repeated the joke to a couple of others in my industry and told them the source. Then my cremations guy got in trouble. I guess the other clinics didn't see the humor the same way I did. oops

I like to joke about death. It makes it easier for me. But I've never said out loud the one I have in my head about my grandfather's horrible, fatal farm accident.
The only thing I truly steer clear from is violence, sexual or otherwise, cause that's just not cool.

"On peut rire de tout, mais pas avec n'importe qui" (You can laugh about anything, but not with anybody) - Pierre Desproges, French humorist.
