So as you, my gentle reader, may have surmised I have spent the evening and so far today at my sister's house.

My nephew has a book report where...as part of the report they are to include a figure they have made of the main character. S is currently reading Lord of the Ring but wanted instead to maybe make Harry Potter because "all the other kids will be making Frodo!" Suzanne and Bill assured him this was not the case.

I volunteered/got volunteered to help Sam make the figure. (Suzanne is doing the clothes part) We have spent most of the day working on Master Frodo and it's been a lot of fun. Sam and I made the armature, Sam packed the middle with aluminum foil and then started placing sculpy to beef him up.

Sam has actually done most of the work on him. I have done some of the intricate detail work like the hands, feet and face. Sam has done everything else including his hair. All things considered I think he's coming along pretty well.

It is amazing! His teacher is not going to believe that Sam made it.

I think his teacher should be more impressed he is actually READING Lord of the Rings on his own. That's pretty impressive for a 10 year old!
